How adding a CMS to a Nextjs website unblocks your marketing team
by Edward Danilyuk, Founder
Nextjs is a popular frontend web framework that lets developers build everything from simple websites to complete web apps. With some optimization, you can build a website with close to perfect Lighthouse scores. However, when it’s time to make content updates, you’re still relying on your development team to make any changes.
Enter a CMS
This is where a CMS comes in. A good CMS gives anyone on your marketing team the ability to update pages, update content and more. This lowers the barrier to entry as you don’t need to have technical abilities to be able to make most changes to your website. Teams are more likely to participate in keeping content and your site up to date. It also fosters collaboration between teams as anyone can see who made changes, and preview any upcoming edits to pages.
This flexibility makes iterating fast and easy. Made a mistake? No problem! Roll back edits with a click of a button - or even preview changes before you push them live. Newer CMS tools like Sanity offer everything from collaboration, task management and version control letting you see exactly what changes were made, when and by whom.
Recap
Gone are the days of single purpose CMS sites where you were locked into a theme and had very strict content structures. If you have a Nextjs site, or another static framework - I would encourage you to explore integrating a CMS like Sanity into your site to unblock your marketing team.
